Volunteer Opportunities

  • Volunteers are essential to the success of the International Game Fish Association (IGFA).

  • Whether you are interested in fishing, boating, the environment, or just giving back to your community, your ideas and time can assist the IGFA.

  • Our volunteers share their knowledge and enthusiasm of the aquatic world with customers and other volunteers. The shared experience expands your horizons.

  • Perfect way to complete service hours for high school!

  • Volunteers can pick and choose what events they would like to participate in depending on their schedule.

  • Several events get you back outside and interacting with nature while interacting with the community!

  • Help clean the environment through coastal cleanups and pier cleanups.

  • Obtain a great resource for future Letters of Recommendation needs and References.

  • Jr Camp Volunteer: Assist Day and Summer Camp Counselors with the day-to-day tasks of teaching our youth the basics of fishing and marine biology. Participate in numerous field trips with the campers during Summer Camp and encourage them to be good stewards of the environment. Week-long commitments are required during the summer. During the school year, IGFA hosts a Day Camp when Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade schools are closed. Volunteers are needed during these camps as well.
  • Administrative Assistant: Typing, assembling data, computer data input, filing and answering phones, binding manuals, and assembling mailing packages. *Based on office work needs for all IGFA Departments*
  • Fishing Activities Volunteer: Assist IGFA Staff with fishing-related events such as Mercury Family Fishing Clinics, fishing tournaments, and other youth or family fishing clinics. Fishing experience is preferred but not required. During these events, there are often stations such as knot tying, de-hooking, registration, and casting.
  • Education Outreach Assistant: Assist the Education Department staff with instructing school and youth programs and participating in different Community Outreach Events.
    • Family Fishing Fun Days - Assist staff with this new community event held quarterly. Fishing experience is preferred but not required.
    • Community Events - Attend local community events such as children and family events, music festivals, earth day festivals, beach and pier cleanups, etc. Help staff set up and tear down, perform the activities at the booth, and communicate with guests about the IGFA.

Attending an orientation/training session is an important first step to becoming an effective IGFA volunteer. Every new volunteer MUST attend an orientation before volunteering. Here you will learn a bit about the history of the IGFA and the benefits of volunteering with us.

The next Orientation will be scheduled based on interest. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator for more information. We are now accepting new volunteer applications. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator if interested.
